[RUMOR] SimCity To Be Facebook Game

I don't blame them for cashing in on this craze. At least they're doing something with the Simcity name now.

So, you'd rather have them exploit and defile the name instead of letting the series retire with dignity?

How many different versions of SimCity will they make?

ITS BRILLANT! WHY! you ask? Its all about marketing, if the game is succesful on Facebook then it may or not give EA and Maxis the information they need to produce, hopefully another real genuie SIMCITY 5 with all the bells and whistles, in marketing unfornutly its all about numbers and sales not nostalgia even though the fans demand it so EA is looking at how many fans or interest is there in the game and using Facebook to get the numbers. I think our best indicator is the fact that Maxis is hiring for postions of this feild. It just maybe some great news but I don't agree in making a great game as Simcity meaning the whole franchise into a second rate game for Facebook. Facebook will come and go in the next 10 years there will be another social network and the PC will be even more powerful including all other technology. I don't beleive that Simcity will ever disappear but only get better, if done correctly, and how great is that this game we call SIMCITY has been so successful for so many years and still selling on the shelf to this day and this great site and others that bring out so much great talent and imagination in all of us, Simcity inspired me to be an engineer and draftsmen and to own a PC. THANK YOU WILL WRIGHT AND THE TEAM THAT MADE A GREAT GAME AND SIMTROPOLIS FOR KEEPING THAT IMAGINATION AND FUN ALIVE THE FUTURE IS BRIGHT THE POSSIBLITYS ENDLESS.

I really hope this is true. Zynga created Cityville for Facebook, but it wasn't all that great. Simcity on Facebook will be awesome!!!

Why would EA need to see if their game works on Facebook in order to determine if they should make a new stand-alone version? If it works on Facebook, they'll get a lot of money out of that and they'll be happy. They're most likely not going to spend even more money to make a stand-alone SC5 out of that. Also, the Facebook game would probably not at all look like SC4 (and it cannot, for practical reasons). Chances are it is going to be more related to Societies, if the rumours are true at all

If EA wants to reach out to their fanbase, they should come here.

EA seems to love recycling SC3K in every mobile and console iteration, and I would find it difficult to believe they would be improving things now. Odds are they'll probably make a "region" where your neighboring cities instead of being AIs are run by your friends and they have neighboring cities run by their friends and so on.

While it would be lovely to see a brand new Sim City game, EA's track record tells me to not get my hopes up.

If there's one company that can and eventually will ruin everything it aquires, it's EA.

Poor SimCity. Only EA would end a very popular series such as SimCity, and then reuse a few of the games in the series so it can be played on the IPOD or Facebook. You suck EA. Hire Will Wright and get to SimCity 5 please.

Why are they trying to make games for facebook. They need to get working on make Sim City 5 already we have waited long enough

Sim City's rep has already been ruined, thanks to Sim Town 2, which was misnamed under the simcity franchise.

Very disappointing news indeed. I am sure EA will blow this like ever other Simcity since 4. But I do hope in at least one parallel universe that it will turn out right. Please EA, Ether do it right or not at all, and by right I mean not on facebook!

I hope they at least improve it, if not it will just be extending SC4. They need to get rid of all the mobile stuff and this and start work on Sim City 5. Sure lots of people are gonna play this on Facebook, but its gonna be Sim City 4 with friends basically.

No, it's not enough for EA to develop no further real simcity, no, they stabbed it many times and now they're going to stab it again and again....

Wouldn't surprise me because of the SimCity IPhone App.

Im suprised simcity hasn't died.... its been stabbed in the back, shot in the face and kicked to the ground that many times and its still "walking"

I prefer optimism. Give EA a chance. They made SC4 (granted under different leadership), so they can make a good game for Facebook. I never play Facebook games, even though I use the Book all the time, but I may look into this. We'll just have to wait and see. Either way, SC5 is long overdue.

SimCity Socities would be better, unless they had Will Wright. Will Wright
