| I got nothin'. Hopefully someone else will see this and know what to do. Great update though. |
| Replies lucky7: Thank you. I do my best with the picture effects. And here's more... Kryptowhite: Thank you, and lol simcity4fan12: Interesting... I thought I'd turned traffic off. Thanks. ironicepitome: That's funny... but I don't know what your face looks like, so I can't make a billboard with your face. N106: Wah wah wah! All you do is whine about your problems! Grow up! Larks2242: Thank you chrissc94: That's too bad. I figured out a solution, though. Thank you. Update 30: Beginnings of Urban San Paso The wind of change is on its way. With our population now pushing 45,000, San Paso is changing. Our massive downtown's core is slowly becoming denser, as has been noticed over the past 5-10 years. The SPAC is planning bigger and better buildings, hoping to eventually build buildings like those in Chicago and New York. Older, residential attractions in the rapidly expanding downtown have given way to parks or development. And, I have a tutorial available. What a beautiful day! First, I have to let you know that the Central Avenue Bridge has been widened. ![]() Also, the cemetary has been relocated. Here is its original position in downtown. ![]() It has been relocated to the southern end of town. ![]() On the old location, Center Park has been built. ![]() The land value peak of San Paso is the central intersection, the intersection between Central Avenue and Washington Boulevard. ![]() The SPAC has selected a spot for the building it will construct in the next 2 years. ![]() Now, for my tutorial. How to build new neighborhoods at the turn of the century 1) Find some farmland on the edge of your city. ![]() 2) Lay out a street grid. ![]() 3) Zone a few small patches of residential. ![]() 4) Watch as it develops. ![]() 5) Over time, more development will occur, and your new neighborhood will end up deeper in the city. You'll have to add more zones and eventually dezone the farmland. Finally, we leave with a picture of downtown San Paso. ![]() Comments and questions welcome! |

The two largest roads in downtown have been paved with asphalt! San Paso is now the first city in Arizona with paved roads. The paved roads are Washington Boulevard and Central Avenue. Here is the central intersection. ![]() Here is Central Avenue about 3 blocks west of the central intersection, in the original downtown. ![]() Here is Central Avenue to the east. ![]() Here is the northern side of Washington Boulevard. ![]() Here is the southern part of Washington Boulevard. ![]() The bridge was also paved. ![]() Meanwhile, in north San Paso, San Paso North School has been constructed. ![]() That's about it for this update. Comments and questions welcome! |

| Neato, paved roads! Hey, next update could you, by chance, tell us the year; I'm a bit lost. Anyway, what great strides into the future for this city. |
| Replies Muck308: Thank you, and it has been getting denser. simcity4fan12: Yes, we are surging forward to the 20th century. Automobiles and skyscrapers are coming this update! Larks2242: Traffic problems have been eased, that's for sure! ironicepitome: Yeah, but it doesn't quite compare to me... chrissc94: The year is 1899. And yes, we are making strides. Update 32: The First Skyscraper Yes, this is one of those extremely important updates that marks a fundamental change in the nature of the city in question. It is 1899. And things are a-changing! Industrial growth is accelerating! The first skycraper has been constructed. An automobile has been driven into town. And, the Catholic Church has built a new building in downtown, to replace their old headquarters that they lost in the fire of 1886. Industrial growth is occuring by the train station. ![]() A large steel refinery has opened and is for sale. ![]() A small train station has been built along an extension line 2 miles south of downtown, on the outskirts of southern San Paso. It has encouraged local industrial growth. ![]() Meanwhile, the new Jefferson Parkway has been constructed around San Paso. It is, on average, 1 mile away from downtown. ![]() Meanwhile, a new catholic church has been built in downtown. Planning had started right after the fire, with the SPAC. The building was under construction for 3 years. ![]() Meanwhile, downtown is now sporting a 7-story steel-framed skyscraper. It is the tallest thing ever built in San Paso. It was planned by the SPAC earlier in the 1890s, and started construction in late 1897. ![]() A map has been made of San Paso. The city has exploded since the 1880s. ![]() You should be able to see the new Jefferson Parkway. A new century is starting soon. I am looking forward to an era of unrestricted industrial growth, total and permanent peace in Europe, no ships named Titanic hitting icebergs and sinking, and no madman dictators arriving anywhere in the world, along with a total lack of communism. It'll be a great century! Comments and questions welcome! |

| That is nice addition to the skyline... or is it the start of the skyline?(being the first skyscraper) Either way, I'm glad to see your city is growing up! |
|
I've been lurking around this Cj for a long time and now it is time to come out and say: This is the Greatest CJ ever with manners of time line story ... Keep up the awesome job and i'll be always looking forward to the next update . |
| New Cj coming soon ... |
| Replies Larks2242: Thank you Muck308: It is kind of the start to the skyline... I'm glad to see growth, too. TmiguelT: That is probably one of the nicest comments I've gotten in a while, and I'm glad you think so. Update 33: Turn of the Century Welcome to 1900! It's a new century! And, oh boy, it's going to be a great one! First, lets discuss the problems of the last century. I'll put it in bullet form.
It's going to be a great century! Meanwhile, here in San Paso, the 1900 census has come in. 60,502 people live in San Paso. Of them, 68% is white, 23% is hispanic, 6% is black, 1% is Asian, 1% is Native American, and 1% is other. Over the last decade, the nature of San Paso itself has changed. We've gone from an agricultural small city to an industrial large city. Our population makes us the 63rd largest city in the nation! We are the largest city in Arizona, and definately one of the largest in the west. Now, onto the photographs. Industry has been building in the empty spaces by the railroad. ![]() Many buildings now have electrical power, thanks to a coal electricity plant. ![]() Density is increasing along the Jefferson Parkway, which could lead to a general density increase in a 2-mile radius of downtown. ![]() Density is increasing along Jefferson Parkway. ![]() A baseball field and a tennis court has been built by the high school. ![]() Here is a new small church in San Paso. ![]() I have saved the best for last. Here is an image of downtown. The year is 1900. A lot has changed in the last 10 years. ![]() I am looking forward to a great new century, and surely, you are too! Finally, a century man won't screw up! Comments and questions welcome! |

Update 34: City Planning: 1870-present It is 1900. In the past 30 years, San Paso has grown from under 1,000 people to over 60,000. Yes, that's right. We've grown 60 times over! It is time to look back on some of the innovations in city planning here in San Paso, that helped advance us over these last 30 years. 1872: First school built. ![]() 1877: Bridge built over Rio San Paso ![]() 1880: First gold mine opens. ![]() 1885: Anasazi County Courthouse built. It stands to this day. ![]() 1885: San Paso Trinity Church constructed. It stands to this day. ![]() 1889: San Paso City Hall constructed. ![]() 1891: First park opens ![]() 1893: Walls built along Rio San Paso. ![]() 1896: East Paso Park neighborhood built as a "suburb" ![]() 1899: The new SPAC headquarters constructed as first steel-framed skyscraper. ![]() As you can see, it's been an interesting 30 years. Next update: The advancement of downtown from 1870 to the present! Comments and questions welcome! |

| Nice recap! San Paso has certainly come a long way. As you know, I look forward to future reports! |
|
| 1900s, hooray. An interesting era for cities! World War I industrialization, Roaring 20s building booms, depression, 50s suburbanization, freeways, 60s-70s modern skyscrapers, can't wait! |
| Replies TmiguelT: Yes, San Paso is growing quickly. I'm glad you like my choice in building plops (I only sell what I plop) More progression will come after a few updates with time frozen in 1900... Nardo69: It's all about placement and surroundings. This CJ is updated every 1-3 days, so you'll have to keep your eye on this CJ a lot. simcity4fan12: Sorry to hear. I'm glad you like my CJ, though! Kusajika Yachiru: I can't wait for those super-modern futuristic things like automobiles and radios! Larks2242: Thank you Muck308: In only 30 years, too. Here's a future report right now! chrissc94: What's World War 1? Am I going to get depressed? Are there going to be more neighborhoods like East Paso Park in the future? What is a freeway?! You mean modern skyscrapers like those massive 10-15 story buildings in Chicago with those nice victorian styles?!! WHAT IS THIS FUTURE YOU SPEAK OF?!!!! Update 35: Downtown: 1870-present San Paso was founded a long time ago. Businesses started opening along the dirt path known as Main Street after San Paso became an American city following the 1853 Gasden Purchase. Since then, a massive downtown has grown. 1870: First known photo of downtown. There were only 7 businesses along the thin dirt Main Street. ![]() 1881: First brick business opens. New city hall constructed. Downtown is growing due to a population boom caused by the train station and gold rush. ![]() 1886: Downtown has grown with several larger brick and wooden buildings. The streets remain thin. A courthouse has been constructed, and the city has expanded, so farmland is no longer visible from downtown. ![]() 1887: Large fire burns down San Paso. Hundreds dead. Insurance companies fail. I bribe city council into sending the city into deep debt by providing full retribution. No city council members are re-elected in 1888 election. ![]() 1890: Downtown has recovered and is seeing another building boom. Main Street has been widened into Central Avenue. City hall built. ![]() 1894: Several larger buildings have been constructed. Southern downtown growth stalled due to high wealth buildings. Downtown grows rapidly to north and east. Washington Boulevard constructed. ![]() 1900 (present): First skyscraper built. Central Avenue and Washington Boulevard paved. Downtown grows southwards. Center Park constructed. During those 30 years, the population had expanded 60 times over. Now, San Paso is a major city, and the industrial center of the southwest, second only to Los Angeles.Comments and questions welcome! |
