Those of you who are observant may have noticed a slight change in your dashboard:

It would appear that the previous idea of a textual statement indicating what kind of standing a member is in has been replaced with an actual point based warning system. It's nothing unusual, a lot of fora do it.
What is unusual, however, is that there is no explanation given as to how the point system works (at least that I've seen). A rundown of what range of points an offense may earn you, and at what threshold certain penalties may be incurred.
Is anything like that forthcoming or is it just another Simtropolis mystery?

Disregard that. Points are a score of good things, not bad things, it turns out.

It is not a warning system, rather a system designed to count your total points earned with STEX Ratings, CJ Ratings, and other ratings.

So, if your CJ is rated high, will your points go up?

It's not a warning system, it's a reward/karma system

It was working, but presently being tweaked...

Okay, that's confusing. It's right next to the  "member in good standing" smiley face. Looks like it wants to be associated with it.

So then I suppose no explanation of how it works is forthcoming, huh.

Do the points even mean anything, though? Do you earn things for having points or something?

i think its something to do with the commenting the buildings you people make, and others that like your comment give you more points.

 Groan....

I wouldn't be opposed to this, but a few months ago another website I visited installed a thumbs up/thumbs down per post. And because the members are somewhat bitter and/or my ideas are unpopular and/or someone's out to spite me, my rep plummeted to -14 in the first week (I now stand at the site's lowest, at -170)

I am positive that Ernie's skin was grey, and rubber ducky was not yellow... at least when I watched Seseme Street in '72...

Ah sweet nostalgia, when Cookie Monster could eat all the cookies he wanted without them being considered a 'sometimes' food...

I have that too... maybe we have an incalculably high number of points?

I will, however, have to refer to Dirk's post earlier on the page:
It was working, but presently being tweaked...

It should have a number sooner or later.

Did you have a black and white TV or just bad reception?

Would this ( the '? points') be involved with the '-- points?':

Yeah. Like I said, this takes the amount of points you have earned by commenting on people's stuff in the CJ's, STEX, etc.

Black and White TV.   I remember that going to someones house with a colour TV was a real treat.

Didn't get a colour TV until 1979.

Oh and you had to wait a couple of minutes for the valves to warm up when you turned the TV on, and in the early 70s New Zealand only had one TV channel.

So what was the point of this discussion again --- ?

My smiley face changed the way it looked. Does this have anything to do with points even though I still have zero?
