Okay, I was curious, how often do people change their avatars? And what were their past ones?

So here, post the avatars you've used on Simtropolis by date to show us all!

Here are my old avatars:

1. "The Used"
May 2006 - October 2006

2. "Default Simtropolis Apple"
October 2006 - the next week

3. <Since Been Deleted> "Get this Box of my Head!"
October 2006 - March 2007

4. "My Mind in Text"
March 2007 - May 2007

5. "I Love Chadam"
May 2007 - July 2007

6. "Alone"
July 2007 - October 2007

7. "Chadam Lives"
October 2007 - Present

Don't ask about all the Chadams...he's The Used's mascot <3

Now show us yours!

I can't really show you any of them, but nearly all of them featured a llama in some way.

Yeah, I also had way too many of them, but they all had to do with Lexus, Get Fuzzy, or NASCAR.

Oh, all of mine are scattered across different computers. Recently, they've involved Calvin & Hobbes quite a bit. I also had a few Sacramento landmarks, some animated ones (Agent Smith my most famous), and that's all I can remember. I'll track them down and post them here, all right?

I can honestly say I have never changed my avatar.  I did have the ST Blue Head for a couple of weeks, when I first joined, though.

wow, this is the thread for me:

The very original was a Dassault Mirage (deleted before retirement)
Next one was the Lockheed f-35 (deleted before retirement)
The UN flag (retired & deleted)

  then came this (now retired)

One or two forgotten ones

 then the toxic kiwi (retired)

breifly a black hole (retired & deleted)

Then Uranus for a brief time (retired)

The German eagle for a couple days (retirement unconfirmed)

The Slovenian coat of arms for about 24 hours (retirement unconfirmed)

And the Albanian emblem (current: will probably stay in service)

You may ask, why the Albanian one? I tell you: because it's cool! And I like it!

Zach, about half of those I've seen in one day. You change too quickly. Avatars are like rental cars. You test them out, and if you like the feel of it, keep it for a while. If it's bad, trade it up. If you get in trouble, get a different one and never speak of it again. I think . . .

keeping the same image makes you more recognizable in long threads and increases the odds of having your thoughts read. At least that's my guess

<---- Always had that... i've contimplated changing it a few times but I usually hate it myself when people change avatars because they seem to lose thier Identity, especially in Forums such as this.

The one i've contemplated changing it to is this Boris one from my MSN, but I doubt I will-

I used to have multiple variations of a maple leaf, with images 'inscribed', I guess you could say, inside of them. Since that computer died, I've had to resort to little characters I've found in Coca-Cola ads. I'll see if I can dig up some of my leafs..

Edit: Success!

Mid 2006.

The image
Sometime after the previous.

Sometime after the previous.

The image
Dunno if I ever used this one.

The image
I used this here at some point. Might have been ST 4.0.

The image
Used this during the NHL Playoffs in '06. Go Oilers!

There's dozens of others. If I dig any more up, I'll post them.

Okay... well I haven't been here long, but here are the avatars I've had...

I believe this is what I had for my first few weeks or something... not sure though...

Then I had this one for about 10 minutes...

Then this one for a while...

And now this one. I plan on changing it soon thanks to some of Leo's... immature comments about it...

Yeah, its Serj Tankian... he did that massive grin during a Kerrang! photoshoot, i loved it so much I had scan the page onto my PC and make an Avatar out of it... acctually, it started life as a SIG for another forum I was part of and I shrunk it down to an Avatar later on.

Let's see, I had the basic head for a while waaay back, which of course is no longer available because that was way back at 3.0 or 4.0 or something!

Then I remember once I had a courthouse from my town.

I had a flag for the 4th of July.

A 4 leaf clover for St. Patty's.

I've had others but I don't remember.

And of course my famous pop tarts, which I may or may not change.

Not counting the generic avatar that I (like everyone else) started with, and the ones that got defaulted back to when forum upgrades meant resetting all the avatars, my current avatar is #5758 at this site. Though, in my earlier days here, I changed my avatars more often. every couple weeks on average. Now I seem to go a couple months with each, at least. There's too many pictures to go and upload them all, but I'll give a descriptive rundown of each, in order:

1) Promotional art from Rockman 2
2) Random image of Kim Possible from Google
3) Pixel art of Lucy and Maureen from A Modest Destiny
4) Artist's rendition of a visionary skyscraper known as "Aeropolis 2001"
5) AIM Icon of Kim Possible, from Google, color inverted.
6) AIM icon of Missy from Mall Monkeys, a webcomic which has been defunct for quite some time now and does not, to my knowledge, exist anywhere on the internet anymore.
7) Mugshot of Air Man from Megaman 2, taken from The Megaman Homepage.
8) Animated GIF of Megaman running (SNES sprites), from Google
9) Random image of Kim Possible from Google (no relation to #2)
10) Animated GIF of Susan from El Goonish Shive, one of a few avatars made by the comic's author for general use.
11) Random Image of Kim Possible, Cropped and resized from a larger image from google
12) AIM Icon of Kim Possible from Google (no relation to #5)
13) AIM Icon of Kim Possible from Google (no relation to #5 or #12)
14) Avatar of Kim Possible from some random fansite.
15) Cropped from a screenshot from a Kim Possible episode (it's been too long, I forget which, or even what's going on in the screenshot)
16) Cropped from a fanart of Kim Possible
17) Cropped from a (adult) fanart of Kim Possible
18) Animated GIF of Megaman's charge shot effect from Megaman 8
19) Cropped from a fanart of Megaman
20) Cropped from a fanmade desktop image of Duke Nukem
21) Cropped from a fanart of Sam from Totally Spies
22) Cropped from an El Goonish Shive comic
23) Cropped from an El Goonish Shive desktop
23) Cropped from another El Goonish Shive desktop
25) Cropped from a random anime girl pic
26) Cropped from another random anime girl pic
27) Cropped from yet another random anime girl pic
28) Sprite of Megaman Sticking his tongue out from Marvel vs. Capcom
29) Sprite of Megaman landing from a handstand from Marvel vs. Capacom
30) Sprite of Megaman getting knocked back after being hit from Marvel vs. Capcom
31) Spite of the graphics from Megaman 8 which cue you when to jump during the auto-scrolling jetboard sections
32) Quick image created in MS paint that's just a gray background with the text "by the time you finish reading this you'll have wasted 5 seconds of your life"
33) Cropped from officical artwork of Roll.EXE
34) The previous image, flipped upside down for Upside down avatar day.
35) Animated GIF of Megaman.EXE slicing with a sword
36) Cropping of Dark Megaman's (EXE) eye from a fanart.
37) The previous image, color inverted fro inverted avatar day
38) Cropped from a fanart of Roll.EXE
39) Cropped from a fanmade desktop of Protoman.EXE
40) Cropped from a fanart of Leviathan from Megaman Zero
41) Rather disturbing image of a newborn baby suffering from Harlequin Fetus Syndrome (this one was removed by an admin within a few hours)
42) Animated GIF of a traffic light, created from scratch in MS paint.
43) The previous image flipped upside down for the second upside down avatar day
44) Cropped from a fanart of Haruka Hikari from Megaman Battle Network

<This avatar actually just got me in a bit of trouble at another forum.

See, one of the administrators at the site had used a similar image in his sig a while back, and didn't take too kindly to his idea being "stolen". Of course, I wasn't even a member of that site yet at the time, and was completely unaware that the idea had been used before. Now, you ask, why would I get in trouble for that? Nobody ever gets in trouble here for using someone else's idea in an av/sig/whatever. Well, see, we're different. Many people who partake in online Megaman communities are also artists (meaning they create fan art), and as such those communities are generally very fussy about "thievery" of artwork, even if someone is only using an idea someone else already had in their own work. You often hear people citing copyright issues in such complaints. But there's a high level of hypocrisy involved there, since those same people are very open about the usage of ROMs and other forms of pirated material, and accepting of it.

So if you venture into the online Megaman community, be careful with your usage of images. Also, watch out for the Japanophiles.

I think I'm going to bite on this one... I change mine every so often.  ( But b/c of some earlier computer crashes and a middle-age memory there won't be pictures.)

My first when I joined was Reggie Miller of The Indiana Pacers ( before  the Detroit brawl a few years back) after he hit a three pointer.

I then flirted w/ avatars that suggested work, such as briefcases, filing cabinets, and clocks.  I then experimented w/ some religious themed avatars.  I also experimented w/ social work themes and w/ family themes.  My favorite was of a silhouette of a businessman waving to his family.

When I became a staff member I mimicked SkiGeek's blue "Mama's Family" picture  w/ an avatar of  "Uncle Joe" of Petticoat Junction which I tinted green.

I later tried a couple llamas and alpacas fr pictures I took during outings w/ my kiddoes.

To impress my wife, I attempted to make an anime picture of her.  That was until some smartaleck asked me why my avatar resembled Michael Jackson!    I later found an animation that actually did resemble her.  I tried to impress her on events like her birthday and our anniversary.  I told her that I got the idea fr our male yutes who would often use avatars featuring beautiful women they appeared to have crushes on. It worked!

Last year to commemorate my son I did a few months with an avatar of bright red James, my son's favorite character from Thomas the Tank Engine.

Earlier this year I did avatars based on my dad's woodworking.  He passed away in December.

Since the spring my son's latest obsession has been geese.  Like his autism itself, I have no explanation for it and I have no idea if it his fascination is related to his autism or not.  But he constantly begs me to take him to various ponds and creeks to see geese.  He also scans for pictures of geese on the Internet.  For whatever reason, our outdoor searches have been relaxing, if somewhat silly, and maybe even therapeutic coming off of recent heart problems I suffered this summer.  I don't understand geese but I respect them and pretty much anything else my family is into.   My current avatar is from one of our recent outings to see geese.

Outside of SimTropolis I have avatars of my daughter's interests in butterflies and seashells.  I  haven't developed the nerve to do any of the Disney princesses.  And the idea of a Hannah Montana avatar is absolutely creepy!!!     The Magistrate has never asked, but I probably wouldn't any of her forensics oriented themes, either.  (She has a cool one of a magnifying glass and adopted mine on my birthday.   )
