Hello! I downloaded the Wave3 ElTrain Night Light Mod and it works, but it only works on the first car but not the rest. So if anyone can help me with this problem, that would be great.

You are using the game's default automata? This only works with the defaults. Also, you might try to switch the night mode on and off.

What is the game's default automata? I've switched the lights on and off but still only the first car has lights.

Automata are the vehicles (cars, trains, etc.) that appear in the game. For the Wave3 mod to work, the game's original el-rail trains need to be used. If you have used any mods to replace the el-rail trains, you can try removing them.

Do you happen to have the NAM installed? I tried the mod in my game without any plugins, and it worked fine. However, after placing my regular NAM folder in the plugins, it appeared as your does - first car lights only. Perhaps it is not compatable with NAM...

So are you saying that I have to uninstall NAM for it to work?

Apparently that's the choice. With even the very basic NAM setup, it still did not work. I know the download listing for the Wave3 mod says it can be used with NAM, but it is over three years old and the NAM has gone through many changes. I did get a little curious and did some file 'fiddlin'. I found that if the Wave3 mod is placed in its own folder with a name such that it loads after NAM, the lights on the cars do light except for the first one. Curious...  I don't know enough about the 'guts' of the files, so I don't know how the conflict arises but it seems that is the case. Of course, someone may come along with a possible answer... hopefully... Maybe a posting in the NAM thread will get an answer...?

Thank you. Now I understand better. Is there anyway that I can contact the user who made it or if not can you explain to me the way you made the other cars work even though the first one didn't.

The STEX search seems to be down right now, so I can't check who made the mod. And I can't remember who it was... . It is a few years old, so I don't know whether the creator will still be active or not. Maybe later when the search is working.

...or if not can you explain to me the way you made the other cars work even though the first one didn't.

Sure... In my plugins folder I have what I've named a "ZZZ' folder. This is where things are placed that need to be loaded last or after certain other things. Since the game usually  loads folders in alphabetical order, this folder will load after the NAM folder. I found if I placed the Wave3 mod in my "ZZZ" folder, the lights would show up on all the cars except the first one.

You could also just create a "Wave3" folder and place the mod in it rather than in the Plugins root folder. With a name like "Wave3" it will load after the NAM folder.

Hope this makes sense...

That's great! Now we know it's possible... Guess I'll have to do some more checking...
