| Hi! I have one question. I like passenger trains and thier stations but I can never lure people onto them. Same goes for elevated rail and NAM light rail. Please Help me! |
I don't think the glass is half full or half empty. I just drink it all and I'm still thirsty. |
| Hmm... what does your network look like? Is it straight lines or curved to meet the stations? If the lines are straight, commuters are more likely to take them, as commute time will be less. Also, as you hopefully know, other transit networks are used by Sims. If your roads are clear enough, Sims can just floor the accelerator and go faster than a train. Also, I assume your lines go from Residential to Industrial or Commercial, right? Without too much excess rail in between? |

| Well, I've used the old cheat before and made rail the only way to get from place to place (separating districts with rail the only connector, building a res-only island and having rail bridges the only mainland connector). However, that doesn't usually work in most cities. If you really want people to take the train, make an extremely extensive rail system and start to neglect the roads. |

| Sims love trains.. if you build them from where they are (with stations) to where they want to go (with stations), they will take them a LOT.. so I'd guess your trains don't go where they want to go.. |
| Ahhh.... I see... My line is curved because it has to wind around from the hilly suburbs to the Industry park! It's not a long line, either. By the way, anyone remember Railroad Paradise in SC3000? Also, can passenger and freight trains be on the same MAXIS track? Thanks. See ya! |

My line is curved because it has to wind around from the hilly suburbs to the Industry park! It's not a long line, either. This can work fine and if you give the simulator a bit of time, it usually will find this route unless its too long.. It helps A LOT if where the passengers get on the track STARTS in the direction of their jobs, even if you do a lot of curving after that... just the way it works Sorry, no I don't yes |
| Thanks! I now see the issue. The line isn't long enough and there are too many roads going into the industry! Thanks again! See ya. 1 post to go!!! |

| I had the same problem with the rail system. Once I figured out that separation between R, C and I had an impact, the sims in my game use the passenger trains a lot, thus cutting down on road congestion. Add in freight stations to lessen freight trucks hogging road space too! Good luck |
